Sphynx Cat and Kittens - History
The Sphynx cat of today descended from three domestic short hair farm cats in Canada, these produced hairless kittens. The Sphynx Cat also known as the canadian hairless became a recognised breed in the mid 1970's.
Sphynx Cat - Appearance and Characteristics
The Sphynx cat, although described as hairless, has a very short downy coat, which can often be hard to see or |
feel, they usually have some short soft hair on their muzzle, tail, ears and feet and they are very warm to the touch.
Sphynx kittens are born with a soft downy coat and are very wrinkly, when mature they should maintain their wrinkles, especially on the face and neck.
Sphynx cats have very large ears and a muscular body with a broad chest, the face is broad with lemon shaped eyes, the tail is long and thin and the toes are also long.
Shynx cats and kittens are not totally hypo-allergenic, their lack of hair may reduce reaction in some people but they still produce skin cells which some people will react to.
